- The Embassy of Burundi does not renew a Passport of any type: Ordinary, Service or Diplomatic.
- Any request for an ordinary passport is addressed to the competent authority in Burundi.
- The Embassy can issue a laissez-passer in lieu of a passport to any person who presents the origin of their expired passport.
- Students receiving grants from the Government of Burundi who wish to renew their biometric passports, the request is individual and is addressed to the Ministry in charge of Education. They must attach to the application files documents certifying that they are regularly registered for courses, a copy of a valid residence permit and a student card.
